Font Size For A1 Poster
Use upper and lower case for general content as the use of all capital text is difficult to read.
Font size for a1 poster. 24 to 32 font size single spaced is recommended. The title of your poster should have a 50 font size depending on the size of your poster and the length of the title. Line spacing line spacing can help make the text parts of your poster easier to read and increase its impact. The body of your poster should have a minimum 24 point font.
This will allow your poster to be read from about a 4 foot distance but you can increase the sizes if you anticipate the reader standing farther away. 48 to 60 point font size is recommended for headings. Avoid using a mixture of type font. Lettering the poster should be easily readable at a distance of two metres.
A1 is a good size print. Do not use all uppercase letters for the title or body of the poster. Inside the application if you have a lot of text i would use no smaller than 36 48pt but if its a just a small paragraph of text i would use 60 pt also i would probably use illustrator if creating print work of that size. Orientation of your poster must be in portrait style.
The message that your poster contains should be clear and understandable without the requirement of oral explanation. It will also let you adjust the font sizes before you tweaked everything to perfection. The text should be concise and easy to read. Powerpoint has a page size limit of 56 inches 142 24 cm.
Do not worry if these sizes seem too small an 8pt font enlarges to approximately 24pt on posters printed to a1 size and approximately 32pt on posters printed to a0 size. Make sure that all the text on your poster can be read from a normal distance. Viewers should be able to read your smallest text from a few feet away. Use a normal a4 printer put some 12 14 16 18 pt type on it print at real size 1 1 stick it on the wall and try to read it from up close.
However a1 is quite a large format so i think it is best to experiment a bit with possibly larger font sizes assuming the artwork does not need to be super crammed. Cleaner lines and edges.
